How to Dance with Opportunity: Rochelle Moffitt on Backing Yourself, Building Momentum & Saying “Day One”

by Kristina Karlsson

After returning from a soul-stirring week speaking at the Evolve X Retreat in Fiji (info here), I’m still smiling about a full-circle moment.

Last years ago, Rochelle Moffitt attended the retreat during a challenging season for her. This time I met her again - as a speaker - and I knew I had to bring her story to you.

It’s proof that dreams plus daily action create extraordinary change.

From a blank page to a bold brand

Two years ago, Rochelle sat on her bed, pulled out pens and paper (a girl after my own heart!), and wrote what she loved and did well.

That list became the seed for a women-focused personal branding agency - and the beginning of a new life. She chose action over perfection, clients before a “perfect” website, and progress over excuses. Momentum did the rest.

Today, she’s built a team, created community events like Rev’d, and designs work around her values.

I loved hearing how she “minds her own monkey” - keeps blinkers on, focuses on her lane, and keeps moving. It’s such a practical mantra for creating your version of a dream life.

The power of the dance floor

Rochelle’s favourite quote lit me up: “Opportunity dances with those already on the dance floor.”

When you’re moving, asking, shipping and learning, you simply don’t have time for the chorus of doubts or the opinions of bystanders.

You’re too busy dancing - and cheering others on. That mindset alone can change a year.

Big dreams, little steps (and why time matters)

On the show I shared a simple exercise I use in workshops: write your age ten years from now, and then imagine what could be possible if you took small steps every day.

This reframes urgency in the loveliest way: we get one beautiful life - so lets savour it, design it, and live it on purpose.

Day One or One Day? Choosing experiments that elevate you

You’ll also hear a candid conversation about alcohol-free seasons. I’m ten months into a year with no alcohol, and it’s been a gift for my sleep, energy and creativity.

Rochelle left Fiji toying with her own “Day One” moment after hearing my approach and (very sweetly!) a few reflections from Tiffany about what it’s like when Mum doesn’t drink.

Whether alcohol is your thing or not, the bigger story is about choosing experiments that multiply your energy.

A tip I shared with Rochelle: write down why you’re doing it, tie it to your top three yearly goals, and read it daily for a few weeks. Momentum loves clarity.

Five insights you’ll take from the episode

  1. Momentum beats perfection. Start before you’re ready; clarity arrives through action.
  2. Design work around life. Build your business to express your values and serve your season.
  3. Mind your own monkey. Protect your focus and energy; comparisons cost you progress.
  4. Dream big, act small, repeat. Ten years will pass anyway - stack tiny steps now.
  5. Day One over One Day. Try an energy-raising experiment (alcohol-free, morning walks, journaling) and let the benefits compound.

Rochelle’s story is a gorgeous reminder that you don’t need to have it all figured out to begin.

You just need a pen, a plan, and the courage to take the next step.

See you on the dance floor.
