The Courage to Share: How Your Story Can Inspire Someone Starting Where You’ve Been

by Kristina Karlsson
Have you ever felt like your story doesn’t matter, or that it’s not quite “ready” to share?
Maybe you think you need to be an expert before you can help someone. I want to gently challenge that belief.
In this recent podcast episode, I explore something close to my heart: how to find the courage to share your lessons, even while they’re still unfolding.
Because someone out there is just beginning the journey you’ve already walked, and your story, your voice, might be exactly what they need right now.
Why Your Story Matters
I recently had the honour of speaking at the “Start Your Own Business” summit.
After my talks, I had the most moving conversations with attendees, and two of them really stayed with me.
One was a 66-year-old man who had lost everything, including his marriage.
He told me he had felt ready to give up. But something in my words sparked a little hope in him. Hope that it’s not too late to begin again.
Another was a woman in her mid-fifties who had spent much of her life caring for her unwell child.
Now that her son is on his own path, she found herself at a crossroads, and potentially facing homelessness. She told me I reminded her that dreaming is not selfish. That it’s her time now.
These conversations were powerful reminders. You don’t need to have it all figured out to make a difference. You simply need the courage to speak up.
Five Beautiful Insights from the Episode
1. You Only Need to Be a Few Steps Ahead
You don’t need a qualification or decades of experience. If you’ve figured something out, even something small, and someone else is struggling with it, you’re in a position to help. That journaling habit that grounds you. That podcast that helped you shift your mindset. It’s worth sharing.
2. Connection Is More Important Than Perfection
People are not looking for flawless. They’re looking for real. Share your doubts, the messy parts, your fears, and how you worked through them. That’s what builds connection. I always say I’d rather learn from someone just ahead of me than someone who only speaks in theory.
3. Start Small and Keep It Simple
You don’t need a podcast or a book to begin. It might be a voice note to a friend, a thoughtful social media post, or even something you write in a journal and share in a group. Every ripple starts with a single drop. Begin where you are and with what you have.
4. It Heals You Too
One of the most unexpected gifts of sharing your story is the healing it brings you. When I speak about losing almost everything with my first business, kikki.K, it’s still emotional, but sharing has brought me growth, clarity, and a renewed sense of purpose. Your voice doesn’t just help others. It supports your own healing too.
5. Community Brings Momentum
Inside the Dream Life Coaching Program, we’re spending August focused on this. Helping you take your lessons, experiences, and tools and turn them into something meaningful for others. It might be a post, a podcast, a product, or even a mission. If you feel even the smallest nudge in your heart to share something you’ve learned, I’d love you to join us.
A Few Prompts to Reflect On
-
What is one lesson you’ve learned that could help someone else?
-
What challenge have you overcome that might offer hope?
-
What simple step can you take today to share more openly?
You don’t need to be finished or perfect to help someone else feel a little less alone. You just need the courage to begin.
I never imagined that writing down my dreams at 3am would one day lead to a life I truly love, a podcast with nearly 400 episodes, and a global community of dreamers.
But it started with sharing. One message. One voice.
So my question to you is this:
What do you know now that someone else might need to hear?
Your voice matters. And now is the time to use it.
With love and inspiration,
