Unwrap the Gifts of Your Season: A September Reset to End the Year with Intention

As we step into September - a month that always feels like a mini New Year to me - I wanted to share a beautiful reflection on the power of seasons, both in nature and in life.

Much like spring, summer, autumn, and winter, our lives also move in seasons. Some are filled with energy and excitement.

Others ask us to rest, reflect, or rebuild. And every single one - no matter how messy or magical - holds a gift.

The question is: are we present enough to receive it?

This recent podcast episode is a gentle yet powerful reminder that now is the perfect time to pause, reset, and plan your final quarter with heart. Let’s explore what it means to honour the season you’re in - and how to align your life with what matters most.

The Wisdom of Seasons

Nature has an innate rhythm. Spring brings energy. Summer celebrates. Autumn reflects. Winter rests.

And we’re not so different. There are times in life when we’re full of ambition, and other times when life feels heavy or uncertain. There are seasons of blooming, seasons of letting go, and seasons of simply being.

But there is always a gift - if we take the time to unwrap it.

So I invite you to ask yourself:

  • What season of life am I in right now?
  • What is it asking of me?
  • What’s the gift here?

This reflection is the perfect place to begin.

A Journaling Prompt to Start With

If this season of your life had a name, what would it be?

Maybe it’s the Season of Rebuilding. Or Stillness. Or Saying Yes. Get curious. Let the name come to you. And let it guide your decisions.

When we name our season, we begin to understand what it needs.

Three Simple Ways to Be More Present

You don’t need hours of meditation to feel present. Here are three simple ways to connect with your season:

  1. Ask what your life is asking of you.
    Pause before you dive into your day. Reflect before you rush.
  2. Practice micro-presence.
    Take 30 seconds to feel the warmth of your tea, listen to the birds, or take a deep breath.
  3. Let go of doing more.
    Sometimes progress comes not from adding more, but from simplifying.

Plan the Final Quarter with Intention

There are four months left in the year - 120+ days to create something beautiful.

Here’s how I love to plan the final stretch of the year:

Step 1: Reflect on the past 8 months.

What are you proud of? What lessons did you learn? What needs to be released?

Step 2: Reconnect with your big dreams.

Open your journal. What still matters? What have you been putting off?

Journal prompt:
“What would feel amazing to complete or start before the end of the year?”

Step 3: Choose 1–3 focus areas.

Keep it simple. Pick one to three things you want to move forward with - whether it’s your health, your creative project, or your mindset.

Step 4: Create your Q4 roadmap.

Break your goals into monthly steps. Ask yourself: What does October need? What will I focus on in November? What can I celebrate by December?
