TRANSCRIPT:
Hi there, and welcome back to another Monday Morning Motivation episode. Let’s start by taking a deep breath with me.
In through your nose… and out through your mouth. And another one—inhale through your nose… and as you exhale, let your shoulders drop. Settle in for some Monday Motivation with me.
Today’s quote is a really good one. The quote we’re focusing on is:
“Celebrate endings, for they precede new beginnings.”
—Jonathan Lockwood Huie
Such simple words, yet so deeply true.
We often rush through endings, or resist them, because endings can feel uncomfortable. They can feel uncertain. They can feel like loss, or change, or letting go—especially letting go of a year that might not have gone to plan for some of you. But endings are also beautiful. They’re necessary. They’re full of wisdom. And they are always the doorway to something new.
I’ve come to love endings—even the hard ones—because every ending in my life, from the gentle ones to the heartbreaking ones, has held the seed of a new beginning. A fresh season. Often a wiser, braver, more aligned version of myself.
Today, I want to invite you to see the end of this year in the same way. Not as something to rush past. Not as something to gloss over. But as something to celebrate—because you made it here. Not everyone did. You grew. You learned. You showed up for yourself in big and small ways. And no matter what this year looked like—the joys, the wins, the challenges, the surprises—you are standing at the edge of a brand-new beginning: a blank page, a fresh start, and a new chapter waiting for you to write it.
One of the things I do every year is take at least a couple of days where I have nowhere to go and nowhere to be. I focus on working on me and on the year ahead. It’s such a powerful moment to rest, reflect, and get ready for an amazing year.
So today I want to share a few simple practices to help you embrace this ending and step powerfully into a new beginning. These are inspired by my own rituals and the beautiful work we do inside the Dream Life community. We write things down. We reflect on the year that’s been, and consciously choose the dream we want to step into next.
Here are the tips.
1) Celebrate the ending by honoring your year.
Find a quiet moment—maybe with a cup of tea or coffee. Snuggle on the couch with your journal and ask yourself:
-
What were my highlights this year?
-
What did I learn?
-
What am I proud of?
-
Where did I surprise myself?
In the Dream Life Coaching program in January, we plan out the new year, but we always start with reflection—because you can’t create your future without understanding the wisdom of your past. Celebrate all of it: the wins, the growth, the resilience.
2) Release what you no longer need.
Every ending is an invitation to let go. Maybe it’s a belief that’s been holding you back. Maybe it’s a habit that drains your energy. Maybe it’s something you’ve been carrying that simply isn’t yours anymore. Write it down. Thank it. Let it go. You create space for beginnings when you consciously choose what not to carry forward.
3) Rest deeply without guilt.
This week can be a natural pause—a moment to breathe. Give yourself permission to slow down properly: take a nap, go for a walk, sit and daydream, journal, read… or do absolutely nothing and feel good about it.
As we often say: progress, not perfection—and rest is part of progress. Rest restores your clarity. Rest fuels creativity. Rest prepares you for your beautiful new beginning.
4) Imagine your new beginning.
Once you’ve reflected and rested, gently start dreaming forward. Ask yourself:
-
What do I want this next year to feel like?
-
What would make it meaningful?
-
What is one dream I really want to bring to life in 2026?
Dreaming is powerful. Writing dreams down is transformational—it brings the intangible into the real world. This is your moment to imagine without limits.
5) Take one tiny, encouraging step.
Not a big step. Not the perfect step. Just one small step that signals to yourself: I am beginning. It could be writing the first line of your dream, setting up your journal or diary, creating a simple morning ritual, or choosing a word for your year. Small steps create momentum. Momentum creates change. And change creates your dream life.
A gentle reminder from my heart to yours: you don’t have to know exactly how your new beginning will unfold. You just have to show up with intention, curiosity, and courage—one small step at a time. Every ending you’ve lived through has shaped you. Every beginning holds possibility. And you are ready for your next chapter.
If you’re listening at the time this episode is released, we’ve got a couple of free workshops coming up. I’ll link them in the show notes, or you can head over to Dream Life Starts Here.
And I really encourage you to join—because if you haven’t set your top three for the year, now is your time. Then in January we’re going to plan out your year together if you want to join us.
So to finish off this week: celebrate the ending, honor who you have become, and step into your new beginning with an open heart.
I’m here cheering you on, as always. I wish you a beautiful Monday and a beautiful week ahead. And remember: your dream life is built one tiny intentional step at a time. This new beginning is yours. I’ll be back on Friday with another episode. See you then.
