#428 - The One Habit That Will Change Everything (And How to Choose Yours)

In today’s episode, I share something very simple, but incredibly powerful.

You do not need ten new habits.

You do not need a perfect routine.

And you definitely do not need to overhaul your whole life.

What you really need is just one meaningful habit.

One habit that truly supports the life you want to live.

Listen in to hear about the biggest mistake we often make with habits, especially at the start of a new year.

As always, I’d LOVE to hear what resonated most with you - so please share and let’s keep the conversation going in the Dream Life Podcast Facebook Group here.

…and remember, it all starts with a dream 💛

Hi there, and welcome back to another episode.

If you are listening to this in January, chances are you have already been thinking about habits. Maybe you set a few. Maybe you have already dropped a few. Or maybe, like many of us, you are wondering what actually makes a difference.

So today I want to share something very simple, but incredibly powerful.

You do not need ten new habits. You do not need a perfect routine. And you definitely do not need to overhaul your whole life. What you really need is just one meaningful habit. One habit that supports the life you want to live.

So let us talk about how to find that.

Every January, I see the same thing happen, and I have absolutely done it myself. We get inspired. We make a long list. Exercise every day. Eat perfectly. Wake up earlier. Meditate. Journal. Read more. Drink more water. And suddenly, it all feels really heavy.

The problem is not that these are bad habits. Of course not. The problem is that they are not anchored to anything meaningful for you.

Habits that last are not trendy. They are personal.

You need to start with your dream life, not someone else’s.

Here is the question I want you to ask yourself. What kind of life do you actually want to be living in 2026? Not in a big, overwhelming way, but in the day to day.

Do you want to feel calmer? More confident? More present? More energised? More connected to yourself?

Your habits should support that feeling first.

For example, if you want more clarity, a daily reflection habit could support that. If you want to feel calmer, maybe it is a morning ritual. If you want to feel more confident, a habit of keeping small promises to yourself could be perfect.

This is why copying someone else’s routine rarely works.

You can absolutely be inspired by other people, but you need to find habits that suit your life and the life you want to create. Your dream life is unique, and your habits should be too.

I want to share a few habits that have changed everything for me and made a real difference in my own life. Not because they are impressive, but because they are simple and consistent.

One of the most important habits I have ever built is writing my dreams down daily. It started many years ago at three o’clock in the morning, when I felt completely lost and unsure of my future. Putting pen to paper gave me clarity, direction, and something to move towards.

Writing things down has stayed with me ever since.

This year, I am writing my top ten dreams every single day. I am not expecting them all to happen in one year. That is not realistic. But writing them down keeps them present in my subconscious. So if opportunities come up, I am very clear on what truly matters to me.

Inside the Dream Life Coaching Program this year, we are spending an entire month focusing on our top ten dreams because it is so important. I will share more about that in another episode.

Another habit that has made a massive difference for me is my morning ritual.

My morning ritual sets me up for the day. No matter how the day unfolds, if I do my morning ritual, I know I had a great start.

Of course, not every day goes to plan. Unexpected things happen. Life happens. But when you begin your day in a way that feels supportive and nourishing, it changes how you meet everything that follows.

Morning rituals, just like your habits, should support your dream life. And this is something we go deep on inside the Dream Life Coaching Program. Morning rituals are our focus in March this year.

Reflection is another habit that has supported me so beautifully, especially in the evening.

It has helped me notice progress instead of rushing past it.

I use my Daily Wins Journal to write down three wins from the day, three things I am grateful for, and three things I want to focus on tomorrow.

Exercise, journaling, breathwork, walking, and reading are other habits I have woven into my daily life because they support the life I want to live.

None of these habits are big. But together, they have shaped my life in a big way.

This is why starting small is so powerful.

Big habits often fail because they require a big version of you right now. Small habits succeed because they allow you to become that person over time.

A habit that takes two minutes, five minutes, one page, or one simple question is far more likely to stick.

And every time you show up, even in a small way, you build self trust.

You start to think, I do what I say I will do. And that changes everything.

So how do you choose your one habit?

Here is a simple way to begin.

First, ask yourself, what do I want more of in my life this year?

Second, what is one daily habit that could support that?

And third, what feels doable even on a busy or hard day?

That is it. No pressure. No perfection. Just one meaningful habit.

And I want to say this gently, because it really matters.

If you have tried building habits before and struggled, it does not mean there is something wrong with you.

Most of us do not fail because we lack motivation. We struggle because we lack support, structure, and encouragement. And changing habits is hard.

Trust me, I have tried many times and failed without the right support.

Inside the Dream Life Coaching Program, this is exactly what we are focusing on in February. Choosing habits that align with your dream life, and supporting you week by week as you build them throughout 2026.

No overwhelm. No judgement. Just progress.

So today, I invite you to pause.

Choose one habit. One small promise.

Choose yourself.

Because your dream life is not created all at once. It is created quietly. Daily. One meaningful habit at a time.

In February, I will be running habit workshops inside the Dream Life Coaching Program. If you want to join us, head over to yourdreamlifestartshere.com. I will also link it in the show notes.

And if you are listening to this in January, you have the whole year ahead of you to implement habits that truly support your dream life.

Inside the Dream Life Coaching Program, we support each other and stay accountable together.

I cannot wait, and I hope to see you inside the program.

As always, I will be back on Monday with another Monday Motivation episode.

I will see you then.
