#436 - The Importance of Getting Clear on What you Want

This week has been a big one for me.
I’ve just come home from delivering one of the most challenging keynotes of my life. I spoke in front of 1,500 event organisers from around the world. It stretched me. It scared me. And it reminded me of something so important that I want to share with you today.
You do not start with 1,500 people.
You start small.
That's how every dream begins.
In this episode, I want to talk to you about clarity. Because what I see again and again is not a lack of courage. It’s not laziness. It’s not lack of ambition. It’s overwhelm.
We want to do so many things that we end up doing ...less than that.
So today, I’m asking you a powerful question:
If nothing changed between now and the end of 2026, would you feel proud… or slightly disappointed?
In this episode, I share:
-
Why clarity is more powerful than motivation
-
The three reasons clarity changes everything
-
How to stop drifting and start deciding
If you are successful but restless… juggling everything but not lit up… or simply ready to move the needle in your life, this episode is for you.
Your dream life does not happen by accident.
It starts with getting clear.
Let’s dive in.
As always, I’d LOVE to hear what resonated most with you - so please share and let’s keep the conversation going in the Dream Life Podcast Facebook Group here.
…and remember, it all starts with a dream 💛

TRANSCRIPT:
Hi there and welcome back to another episode. I’m so excited to but be I am so excited to be back here. This week was a very big one for me and I just got home after delivering a keynote at a keynote to AIME in Melbourne, Australia.
This was the hardest speaking gig I have ever done I am just so grateful that it went well. This event was in front of 1,500 event organizers from around the world, which means that if they like my keynote and the way I did it, I’m likely to get a lot of more speaking gigs. And as you may know, my dream this week is this year is to do 104 keynotes.
But of course, if I didn’t deliver, it will be the opposite, which meant which means that I wouldn’t get any. Because if I’m sorry, I wouldn’t get any if I didn’t deliver to expectation. And because of that, I was so nervous.
And I asked me to do a rehearsal early in the morning. It was only three speakers and I was the first one. So I was there early in the morning. And doing a rehearsal, I’ve never done that. Obviously, I’ve practiced a lot on my own, but never to a big empty room with just the AV team and a couple of people.
And that rehearsal was so difficult and it did not go well, because it’s really hard to kind of be natural and get into the flow when there’s no one there. It’s just really weird. I’ve never done it. And it was like, oh this is not good.
And because it didn’t go well, it made me even more nervous. But it went well and I am so grateful and I had some beautiful feedback, which is so lovely.
And some of my friends actually said, I could never do what you do. And as you may know, some people rather die than speak in public or speak in front of a crowd. And I can completely understand that because I so totally understand that keynote speaking is not for everyone.
But the thing is, you don’t start with a big audience like that. You start small and then you get some experience and you change what doesn’t work and you do some mistakes and it’s not a big deal because you obviously don’t do it in front of 1,500 very important people to you. That comes later. And you know what? It’s exactly the same for all our dreams and goals and habits.
But what I see the most is that people don’t have the courage to pursue something scary. But I don’t actually think that that is the problem.
I think it is that we all want to do so many things that it all feels too overwhelming and we don’t do anything and we kind of get stuck where we are and we think we want to do so many things and we have all these dreams, but we actually don’t focus.
So I wanted to ask you something today. If nothing changed between now and the end of this year, so end of 2026, would you feel proud or would you feel slightly disappointed?
Because how we spend our days is how we spend our lives. And when we’re young, we don’t think about that, but I feel like the year goes so quickly and I plan the year in January and then I plan each quarter as if they are a mini year. And you know, in March, we’re going to plan out quarter two. And I feel like with just the year just started, life goes so quickly.
But most people don’t fail because they are lazy. They fail because they have never really decided what is important to them and what they should be focusing on. One thing that I did many years ago completely changed my life and I really, really mean that.
It’s not a statement to make you excited. It’s a statement that is so true. Because when I arrived in Australia as a 22-year-old, I was so lost. I had no idea what to do with my life.
So one morning at 3 a.m., I’ve shared this many times, but I woke up my partner, Paul, I think for the fifth time, asking what I’m doing with my life. And he was a bit over hearing it because I was whinging and complaining all the time. So he encouraged me to grab a pen, a piece of paper, and write down what was important to me, so that kind of were my dreams.
And I wrote down a few. I won’t go through them today, but one of them was to start my own business. And I wrote it down and that’s how kind of my life changed because I had no idea how to start a business. I had no idea what that was going to be in or if I could do it. I had no money. I had no experience, no knowledge.
And that’s the beauty of dreaming because it’s not goal setting. It’s not planning. It’s actually setting those dreams first and then you start tackling them.
So I basically just went out thinking, well, I don’t know what to do and I don’t know in what way I’m going to do this. But one thing I can do is buy some products and set up a home office so I can get creative. And that’s how I then realized there was nothing that I was excited about. And that’s how the kikki.K journey was born.
And the whole podcast is not about me, but I just wanted to share. I should say it again. So I’m not going to go further on this, but I just wanted to say that when we actually dream without the restrictions and without any plan on how we’re going to make it happen, that is so powerful because I felt so lost. I wrote a few things down that felt impossible at that time.
But guess what? That kept me going. That got me choosing a direction. Because the moment I wrote down my dreams, everything changed.
Not because they happened instantly, of course, but because I had clarity. So I’m going to ask you, are you a person who is successful but maybe a bit restless or is juggling everything but feels unseen, doing really well but not lit up?
If that is you, I would love to support you and I want you to really start thinking about clarity. Here are three reasons why clarity matters.
You stop chasing everything. And I get it because I am a big dreamer. I love setting goals. I love new shiny objects. So if that’s you, I so understand you.
But once you get clear, you stop chasing everything. Number two, you reduce overwhelm. One thing that I think so many ambitious people experience is that we get so overwhelmed. So every quarter I run a workshop in the Dream Life Coaching Program called From Overwhelmed to Clarity. It’s something that I do all the time for myself. And I now just teach it because it’s such a powerful one.
And then number three, you build momentum when you have clarity.
So one, you stop chasing everything. Two, you reduce overwhelm. And three, you build momentum.
And of course, you do not need 25 goals. You need three that truly matter. And three is a magical number. I tried so many different options, but three has some magic around it.
There is just so much you could do and that is exciting. But if you’ve got too many things to work on, you’re likely to not achieve any of it.
Trust me, I have been there and I have seen so many people in the Dream Life Coaching Program doing the same. It’s hard to choose what to focus on when you are an ambitious person who wants to do it all.
But I really think you should. I promise you, you will move the needle so much quicker. And the exciting thing is that when you plan quarterly, as if the quarter is like a mini year, you will focus and you will get momentum.
And that is a wonderful feeling. And then you can start doing much more because you get momentum and you tick things off and you’re just on an amazing wheel.
So in a couple of weeks, I’m running a workshop because I really want to help you get clarity. And this is really important if you are planning to join me in March, which is all around planning the quarter.
Because if you don’t know what you’re going to focus on, there’s no point joining because I want you to know what we’re going to focus on. And then we plan around the top three.
And the workshop that I’m running in a couple of weeks is called Get Clear on What You Want in 2026. You don’t drift into your dream life. You make it happen.
In this session, we are going to reflect, we’ll be honest, and we’ll go through all your life areas and dream and think about your potential. And then once you’ve done all that, it’s really important to get it all on paper and get it all out of your head so you don’t feel like you are missing out. Then you will choose your top three dreams.
And then once you’ve done that, you will have so much clarity. And that is the goal of this workshop, to get clarity. And then if you want to join me in the Dream Life Coaching Program in March, we’ll turn those three into your quarter two action plan.
Because dreams don’t work unless you do. So what would change if you stopped drifting and started deciding?
Your dream life 2026 starts with just one small step, getting clarity.
And I would love to do this with you. I will link to the waitlist in the show notes to join the workshop. It’s only going to be on one date. So make sure you sign up.
Regardless if you join me or not, make sure you get clarity for you. It really is a game changer.
Thank you so much for joining me today. As always, I’ll be back on Monday with another Monday Motivation episode.
I’ll see you then.
