#443 - Monday Motivation: "Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year."

Welcome to another short and empowering episode of Monday Motivation, giving you a dose of inspiration as you head into your week.

Today, we explore a powerful mindset from Ralph Waldo Emerson about choosing to see each day as the best day of the year:

"Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year."

Three key takeaways you can expect:

  1. Why starting your day with intention can completely transform how the day unfolds.

  2. How noticing small moments of joy can shift your perspective and increase your happiness.

  3. Why journaling is one of the most powerful tools for gaining clarity and taking steps toward your dreams.

TRANSCRIPT:

Hi everyone, and welcome to another Monday Morning Motivation episode.

Today I want to start with a beautiful quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson:

“Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.”

Isn’t that just beautiful?

But also… quite challenging.

Because if we’re honest, not every day feels like the best day in the year.

Some days feel busy.
Some days feel overwhelming.
Some days we wake up already thinking about our long to-do list.

But what I love about this quote is that it’s not really about perfection.

It’s about intention.

It’s about choosing to start each day with the belief that something meaningful, joyful, or beautiful could happen today.

And when we begin the day with that mindset, something powerful shifts.

Instead of rushing into the day reacting to everything around us, we become the designer of our day.

And often, the difference between a chaotic day and a meaningful day begins with how we start our morning.

One of the most powerful practices I’ve discovered over the years is creating a simple morning ritual.

Not something complicated.

Not a two-hour routine. I started with just 15 mins and have build up over time.

All you need is Just a few quiet moments to pause, reflect, and set an intention for the day ahead.

For me, journaling has always been one of the most powerful ways to do this.

There is something almost magical about putting pen to paper.

It helps you slow down.
It helps you clear your mind.
And it helps you reconnect with what really matters.

Sometimes I’ll ask myself simple questions like:

What would make today meaningful?
What am I grateful for right now?
What is one small step I can take toward my dream today?

And suddenly the day feels different.

Instead of feeling overwhelmed, I feel grounded.

Instead of feeling reactive, I feel intentional.

And suddenly the day becomes full of possibility.

So if you love this quote as much as I do, here are a few simple ways you can begin to live it.

First — start your morning with intention.

Before you check your phone, before the world gets noisy, take a few quiet moments just for yourself.

Ask yourself:

How do I want to show up today?

Second — look for the small joys.

When Emerson says every day can be the best day of the year, I don’t think he means every day will be extraordinary.

But every day can hold small beautiful moments.

A walk in the sunshine.
A meaningful conversation.
A moment of gratitude.

When we look for them, we start to notice them everywhere.

And third — write things down.

Writing has an incredible way of turning vague thoughts into clarity.

It turns dreams into plans.
And it turns intentions into action.

That’s actually why I recently created a little resource called Morning Ritual Journaling Prompts.

It’s simply a collection of gentle prompts designed to help you start your morning with clarity, gratitude and intention.

If you’d like to try it, you can download it for free and use it as part of your own morning ritual.

Just a few minutes each morning can make such a difference.

Because when you start the day with intention, something amazing happens.

You begin to live each day more fully.

You start noticing opportunities.

You take small steps toward your dreams.

And slowly, day by day, you start creating a life you truly love.

So as you begin this week, I invite you to carry this quote with you:

“Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.”

And maybe tomorrow morning, before the day begins…

take a moment, open your journal, and ask yourself:

What would make today beautiful?

Have a wonderful week ahead.

And remember — every dream begins with a single step.
