#458 - What I Wish I Could Tell My Past Self: and What the Women Who Change Their Lives Actually Do Differently

Hi there, and welcome back to another episode.
Today’s episode is a really personal one.
It started with a moment I didn’t expect. One that was emotional, beautiful, and deeply reflective all at once.
It happened this morning as I said goodbye to my son - heading off on his very first solo business trip. And in that moment, I found myself reflecting not just on his journey, but on my own.
I realised I was witnessing something powerful. The result of years of dreaming, trusting, and continuing even when I wasn’t sure.
So in today’s episode, I want to share that reflection with you. Because what came up for me is something I have seen over and over again, both in my own life and through coaching women around the world.
Here’s what you’ll take away from this episode:
- Why getting truly clear on what you want changes everything
- What it really means to do the work, even when it’s not easy
- The powerful role your environment plays in shaping your future
This episode is a gentle but honest reminder that your dream life is not something that happens by chance. It’s something you choose and create.
If you've been feeling stuck, unsure, or like you are capable of more, I think this conversation might be exactly what you need right now.
So take a moment for yourself and come and listen. There is something here for you.
As always, I’d LOVE to hear what resonated most with you - so please share and let’s keep the conversation going in the Dream Life Podcast Facebook Group here.
Have a wonderful week …and remember, it all starts with a dream 💛

TRANSCRIPT:
Hi there, and welcome back to the Your Dream Life podcast. I’m Kristina, and I’m so happy you are here today.
I want to share something that happened to me this morning. It was emotional, happy, and a little bit sad all at once, and it led me to a moment of reflection so powerful that I knew I had to share it with you.
This episode is something I’ve been thinking about recording for a long time, but this morning added a new layer I didn’t expect. It’s part personal story, part insight from coaching women around the world, and hopefully a nudge that creates a shift for you.
This morning, I went to the airport. Not because I was travelling, but because my son Axel was leaving on his very first solo business trip to China.
He didn’t need me to go with him. He’s completely capable. But I wanted to be there. It felt important. This was a milestone, not just for him, but for me too.
Axel has travelled with me for years. Since he was about four, he joined me on business trips all over the world. New York, London, Hong Kong, Paris, Africa. It was our thing.
He would help me, and I would connect what he was doing to what he was learning at school. In between, we explored cities and created incredible memories.
There were times I questioned myself. Was I doing the right thing? He missed school. I wondered if I was being selfish because I found it hard to travel without one of the kids.
But this morning, as I watched him walk confidently into the airport, heading to China on his own, building a business he is passionate about, I got my answer.
The confidence, curiosity, and ability to navigate the world that he gained from those experiences could never have come from a classroom alone.
I felt incredibly proud.
Then something else hit me. This is what it looks like when you believe in your dreams and keep going, even when you are unsure.
After leaving the airport, I went to one of my favourite spots in Sydney with my journal and a coffee. It’s a place I used to visit years ago when I didn’t live here yet. Back then, I would sit there and dream about one day living in Sydney.
Today, I live here.
That dream took 20 years.
And sitting there, I realised something powerful. There is something extraordinary about recognising that you are living a life you once only dreamed about.
But we often miss it. We are so focused on the next goal, the next milestone, that we forget to pause and acknowledge how far we have come.
That dream did not happen by accident. It happened because of a few key things I have learned, both in my own life and through coaching.
If I could speak to my younger self, I would tell her three things.
First, get clear on what you want.
Most people think they are clear, but they are not. There is a big difference between having a vague idea and knowing exactly what you are working towards.
When you write your dreams down, they become real. You move from thinking to deciding.
Clarity creates direction.
Second, do the work and trust the process.
Once you are clear, you have to take action. There are no shortcuts. But when you start moving, things begin to align.
Opportunities appear. Doors open. Connections happen.
Not before you move, but after.
The women I see transform their lives are not the ones who wait until they feel ready. They are the ones who take consistent action.
Axel is on that plane today because he kept going, even when things were hard.
That is what doing the work looks like.
Third, don’t do it alone.
Your environment matters. It either supports you or holds you back.
When you surround yourself with people who believe in growth, who take action, who support each other, your belief in what is possible expands.
I see this every week in my coaching program. Women step into a new environment, and everything shifts.
Their thinking becomes clearer. Their actions become braver.
The formula is simple.
Clarity. Action. Community.
But simple does not mean easy.
Life gets busy. Doubt creeps in. Old habits return.
That is why structure matters. You need an environment that supports consistent action.
This is the difference between inspiration and transformation.
This morning, sitting in that café, I also reflected on something important.
This is not a dress rehearsal.
We get one life. We don’t know how long we have.
Every day spent living a life that does not feel aligned is a day we don’t get back.
You are capable of so much more than you are currently claiming.
If something in this episode stirred something in you, pay attention to that feeling.
In May, the doors are open to the Dream Life Coaching Program. It’s a 12-month group coaching experience designed to help you build clarity, momentum, and confidence.
We meet every Monday. We work through a structured process together.
If it feels right for you, I would love to support you.

Before I go, I want to leave you with one question.
If you look back on your life five or ten years from now, what would you want to say you did?
Write it down.
Your dream life is not something that happens to you. It is something you choose.
Thank you for being here.
