#465 - Monday Motivation: The Monday that changes the next 6 months

Welcome to another short but empowering episode of Monday Motivation, giving you a dose of inspiration as you head into your week...
Today, we explore the powerful idea that the way we spend our Mondays shapes the way we spend our lives, inspired by the wisdom of Annie Dillard:
'How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.'
Here are three key takeaways you can expect from this episode:
- Why this moment in the year is the perfect time for a meaningful reset instead of quietly giving up on your goals.
- How small choices on a Monday morning shape the next six months of your life.
- A powerful question you can ask yourself today to create intentional momentum for the rest of the year.
Listen in and discover how reclaiming even one ordinary moment this week can help you move closer towards living your dream life, whatever that means to you.
As always, I’d LOVE to hear what resonated most with you - so please share and let’s keep the conversation going in the Dream Life Podcast Facebook Group here.
Have a wonderful week …and remember, it all starts with a dream 💛

TRANSCRIPT:
Hello!
Before I say anything else, I want you to do one quick piece of math with me in your head. Today is the 25th of May, if you are listening on release day, and from today until the 31st of December, there are exactly 32 Mondays left in 2026.
Thirty-two more chances to begin a week with intention. Thirty-two more chances to become the person you want to be by the end of this year.
This episode is about making sure this Monday, the one you are listening to right now, becomes the Monday that changes how the next 32 feel.
Hi, I’m Kristina Karlsson and welcome to Monday Morning Motivation, the place where we start the week with one quote and practical actions you can take into your week.
This is one of my favourite times of the year because it feels a little like December. We are at a very specific point in the year, the point where many people quietly give up on their goals.
It is rarely deliberate. We do not say it out loud. But somewhere between mid-May and early June, many of us decide, without consciously deciding, that this year will be just like the last. That the intentions we set in January are probably not going to happen. That we will try again next year.
Today, I want to make sure that does not happen to you.
Let me describe what many Mondays look like for capable, ambitious women.
You wake up and there is a brief moment where you think, “Today will be different. This week will be the week. I am going to focus. I am going to do the things that matter.”
Then your phone is in your hand. Your inbox already has 32 emails. The kids need something. By 8:30am, the day has already begun without you.
The intention you had when you woke up has quietly disappeared before your second coffee.
You are not lacking discipline. You are simply one woman trying to hold many things together, often without a structure that protects what matters most to you.
And this is how Mondays quietly disappear. Not dramatically. Not catastrophically. Just quietly.
Then suddenly it is December.
I do not want that for you.
That is why you are listening to this instead of scrolling something easier.
Over the last 25 to 30 years, I have learned something important.
The Mondays that change our lives are not the Mondays where we simply work harder.
They are not the Mondays where we wake up at 5am and push through exhaustion. They are not the Mondays where we finally buy the perfect colour-coded planner, although I do love both early mornings and colour-coded planners.
The Mondays that truly change our lives are the ones where we pause.
Where we honestly look at where we are.
Where we intentionally decide what the next season of our life will be about.
Most Mondays, we react. We respond to whatever landed in our inbox over the weekend. We chase whatever feels loudest and most urgent.
We begin the week the same way we ended the last one: reactive, scattered and behind.
The Mondays that change us are the ones where we interrupt that pattern.
Here is the truth I want to plant in your mind today:
This is not just Monday the 25th of May.
This is the first Monday of the rest of your year.
You have 32 more chances to make this year matter and the way those Mondays unfold depends largely on what you do with this one.
So I want to give you one practical question to ask yourself today.
If I knew that what I do this week shapes the next six months of my life, what would I do differently starting today?
I will repeat it.
If I knew that what I do this week shapes the next six months of my life, what would I do differently starting today?
Most people live as though weeks do not matter. As though the small choices we make on a Monday morning are disconnected from the bigger life we want.
But they are not disconnected. They are the same thing.
The walk you take or avoid.
The difficult conversation you have or postpone.
The hour you protect for what matters or give away to distractions.
Annie Dillard once wrote:
“How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.”
And how we spend our Mondays is how we spend our years.
Tomorrow, Tuesday the 26th of May at 7pm Australian Eastern Standard Time, I am hosting a live 60-minute workshop called The Six Month Reset.
Everything we discussed this morning, the quiet drift, the lost momentum, the gap between January intentions and May reality, is exactly what we will explore together.
I will walk you through the three forces that create real momentum in life and help you identify what may be missing for you right now.
You will also leave with one practical strategy you can use immediately so that the version of you waking up on Wednesday already feels slightly different from the version listening right now.
This is not just motivation. It is a structured conversation designed to help you create real change.
If you would love to join, the link is in the show notes or you can head to dreamlifestartshere.com.
If you choose to do one meaningful thing for yourself today, this could be it.
Before I let you go, I want to leave you with one final thought.
When I look back at the moments that truly changed my life, they rarely looked dramatic at the time.
They were quiet moments.
Ordinary mornings.
Simple decisions.
One of the dreams I wrote down when I was 22 years old was this:
“I want to drive to work every Monday loving what I do.”
Now Monday has become my favourite day of the week.
The moments that changed my life all had one thing in common:
At some point, I paused.
I looked honestly at where I was.
And I decided something was going to change.
That is all transformation ever really is.
A pause.
An honest look.
And a decision.
You are listening to this on an ordinary Monday morning.
You have 32 Mondays left this year.
The version of you who arrives at New Year’s Eve is being shaped right now by what you choose to do with this moment.
So I want to invite you to do three things this week:
First, ask yourself the question:
If I knew that what I do this week shapes the next six months of my life, what would I do differently starting today?
Write your answer somewhere you will see it again on Wednesday.
Second, save your seat for tomorrow’s workshop. The link is in the show notes.
Third, notice the moments where you usually scroll past your own life.
The morning coffee.
The walk to the car.
The five minutes before bed.
Reclaim one of those moments this week.
Make this Monday the one that changes the next six months.
You already have everything you need.
Wishing you the most beautiful Monday.
I will see you back on Friday and, if you are listening on release week, I hope I will also see you at the workshop.
Have a beautiful week.
