#485 - Monday Motivation: "A healthy person has a thousand wishes, but a sick person has only one." - Indian proverb

Welcome to another short but empowering episode of Monday Motivation, giving you a dose of inspiration as you head into your week…

Today, we explore an old Indian proverb about why health is the foundation beneath every dream:

‘A healthy person has a thousand wishes. A sick person has only one.’

Three key takeaways:

  1. Why health and energy make every other dream possible.
  2. How to notice when busyness has pushed your wellbeing to the bottom of the list.
  3. A simple reflection and one small action you can use to protect your health this week.

Take this opportunity to learn how to treat your wellbeing as the foundation of your life, not another task to fit in when everything else is done.

As always, I’d LOVE to hear what resonated most with you - so please share and let’s keep the conversation going in the Dream Life Podcast Facebook Group here.

Have a wonderful weekend …and remember, it all starts with a dream 💛

Hi there, and welcome back to another Monday Morning Motivation episode. I am so glad you are here, and I wanna start today with an old Indian proverb that I absolutely love, and it goes like this: "A healthy person has a thousand wishes.

[00:00:20] A sick person has only one." I'm gonna say it again. A healthy person has a thousand wishes. A sick person has only one It's a quote that everyone who has gone through a health challenge clearly understands. So today, I want to share what I think it means for how we're all showing up this Monday. When we are well, and when our body is working, when we can get out of bed and think clearly and move through our day without pain, we don't just have one wish. We have a thousand. We want the promotion, we want the new kitchen, we want to travel overseas, we wanna learn Italian, write a book, build a business, lose the five kilos, find the relationship, fix the relationship.

[00:01:08] We got lots of wishes and dreams, which is everything that I encourage you to have. And that is what a full life looks like, dreaming big, dreaming often, and dreaming in every direction, which I absolutely love and encourage. But here's the thing about a thousand wishes.

[00:01:29] When we have that many, it's so easy to lose the thread. We chase one, then another distract us, And then there are something that comes and feels more urgent, and we spread ourselves so thin across all those dreams and wishes that we rarely feel the deep satisfaction of actually living any of them fully.

[00:01:50] And that is why, in the coaching program, I always talk about, yes, let's dream big and work out what we really want, but then we need to choose a few [00:02:00] and do them properly, and that is what clarity is all about. now I want you to think about the second half of that proverb, "A sick person has only one wish."

[00:02:10] Just one, to get better, to feel okay again, and wake up without pain. I think about the seasons of my own life when health wasn't as good as it could be, or perhaps when a close friend was struggling with their health. I remember how simple everything became. All the noise fell away. I I didn't care about the million dreams and all the things that I had on my list. I cared about one thing, and there was a strange kind of clarity in that, almost like a relief. Because when you only have one wish, you know exactly where to put your energy.

[00:02:48] and that's the paradox this proverb is pointing to Illness strips life down to its essential truth. Health is not one wish among a thousand. Health is the ground every other wish and dream stands on. Why this matters for your Monday. Here is what I want to offer you this week, not as a warning, but as a gift. I hope and I assume you probably woke up this morning with your thousand wishes intact and perhaps a full to-do list, most of us do on a Monday.

[00:03:27] your health is steady enough that you are free to dream in every direction. That is not something to take lightly. That is enormous, and that is the whole foundation. And yet, so many of us treat our health, our energy, our body, our sleep, our nervous system as the least important item on a very long list.

[00:03:53] we'll get into it after the launch, after the deadline, after the kids have settled, after this busy [00:04:00] season passes, which, let's be honest, it never really does if you are someone like me who have big dreams and business or a career, or a job, or a family, whatever it is for you. I have built my whole life around the belief that momentums comes from clarity, action, and community.

[00:04:20] But none of that means anything if the body carrying you through it is running on empty. You cannot build a dream life from a depleted one. Energy is not nice to have. It's the engine to create your dream life, whatever that is for you So this Monday, I want to invite you to do something a little bit different.

[00:04:43] Instead of adding another wish to your pile of a thousand, I want you to ask yourself this one question: If I only had one wish left, what would it be, and am I treating it that way? For most of us, if we are honest, the answer circles back to something simple. To feel well, to have energy, to be present with the people we love, to sleep properly, to move our body with ease.

[00:05:15] Not the big crazy dream, but the quiet foundational one that makes every other dream possible

[00:05:23] And here's the gift. You don't have to wait for illness to teach you that lesson. You can choose it now while you still have your thousand dreams and wishes, and let it become the one wish you protect fiercely. That might mean going to bed 20 minutes earlier tonight. It might mean actually taking the walk you keep promising yourself.

[00:05:46] It might mean saying no to one more commitment this week so your nervous system gets a break. It's all around the small, unglamorous, deeply important [00:06:00] choices And that is why every August I go deep on my own health, and that's what we do in the Dream Life coaching program as well. So if you're in there, we're gonna have some fun really working around our energy and our health.

[00:06:13] And got incredible guest speakers, Donna Aston, who was on our podcast on Friday. If you haven't listened to that, make sure you do. And my friend Dr. Tori Giles, she is amazing when it comes to the nervous system, and she's also gonna show us some, some longevity tips so we can live a long, healthy life So to remind you, a healthy person has a thousand wishes, and a sick person has only one.

[00:06:41] let that one wish, the wish for health and energy and a body that can carry you toward everything else you want, sit right at the top of your list this week. Not because you're afraid, because you understand its true value. Protect it like it's precious, because it is. That's your Monday morning motivation today.

[00:07:05] I hope it gives you something to sit with as you move into your week. if you love this episode, I would love for you to share it for anyone you think might benefit from it as well. Here's to health and all the thousands of your beautiful wishes. I want you to create your dream life, whatever that is for you.

[00:07:26] And to be able to do that, you need to make sure you are healthy and you got the energy so you can do it all. As always, I'll be back on Friday with another episode. I can't wait to see you then
