Momentum Begins the Moment You Decide What You Truly Want

by Kristina Karlsson

There is something I absolutely love about Mondays. It feels like a blank page. A fresh start. A quiet invitation to begin again.

This week on the podcast, I shared a quote that has stayed with me for years:

“Momentum begins the moment you decide what you truly want.”

Not when you feel ready.
Not when the plan is perfect.
Not when fear disappears.

The moment you decide.

And that distinction is everything.

Why Decision Is More Powerful Than Motivation

So many people tell me they are waiting to feel motivated. But motivation is unreliable. It comes and goes depending on your energy, your mood, your circumstances.

Decision is different.

Decision is powerful. It creates clarity. And clarity creates direction.

When you truly decide something, your energy stops scattering in ten different directions. You stop saying yes to things that do not matter. You stop negotiating with yourself. You stop drifting.

You begin moving.

And that is where momentum lives.

Clarity Creates Direction. Direction Creates Momentum.

Think back to a moment in your life when you made a firm decision.

Perhaps you decided to leave a job. Start a business. Prioritise your health. Move to a new city. Say yes to love.

The moment you decided, something shifted internally. You may not have had every answer. But you had direction.

And direction creates action.

This is one of the most important lessons I have learned on my own journey. When I made the decision to start kikki.K, I did not have a perfect roadmap. But I had clarity. And that clarity created daily action. That daily action created momentum.

It always starts on the inside.

Five Ways to Create Momentum This Week

If you want to apply this immediately, here are five simple steps you can take today.

  1. Decide on one thing
    Not ten. One.

Ask yourself honestly: What do I truly want right now?

It might be better health. More calm. A business launch. Financial growth. Stronger relationships. Creative expression.

Choose one. Write it down. A decision on paper becomes powerful.

  1. Turn your desire into a declaration
Instead of saying, “I would love to…” say, “I have decided to…”

Language matters.

“I have decided to prioritise my health.”
“I have decided to grow my income.”
“I have decided that 2026 will be different.”

Feel the shift from passive to powerful.

  1. Take one small action immediately
    Momentum loves movement.

If you decided to get healthier, go for a ten-minute walk today.

If you decided to grow your business, reach out to one potential client.

If you decided to write your book, write 200 words.

Do not wait for clarity before acting. Movement creates clarity.

  1. Remove one distraction
Momentum is not only about addition. It is also about subtraction.

What is draining your energy that does not align with what you want?

Scrolling. Overcommitting. Procrastination disguised as research. Negative self-talk.

Protect your decision.

  1. Revisit your decision daily
    Momentum builds through repetition.

Each morning, remind yourself: “I have decided.”

Doubt will whisper. Fear will visit. But a strong decision quiets noise.

You Do Not Need More Motivation

Here is the deeper truth.

You do not need more motivation. You need clarity.

Clarity requires honesty.

What do you truly want? Not what looks impressive. Not what feels safe. Not what others expect.

What excites you? What stretches you? What feels aligned?

When you get honest with yourself, momentum begins naturally.

If you are not yet clear, this is exactly why I created my workshop: Get Clear on What You Want in 2026. There is still time to join, and if you cannot attend live, we will send you the recording.

My promise to you is simple. You will walk away with clarity.

And clarity changes everything.

Your Gentle Monday Challenge

Before today ends, decide one thing.

Write it down.
Claim it.
Take one small step.

Momentum is not something you chase. It is something you create.

The moment you decide.

And perhaps this is your moment.
